Writing Data To CD

Guest

I get a "You have files waiting to be written to the CD" message when
starting my computer". However, after inserting a disk into the drive,
nothing happens. It seems my Windows XP, Serivce Pack 2 doesn't read CDs.
It does read/plays CDs already formatted with data on them or music.

Also, when I click on the ballon/error message to see the files that are to
be written to CD, nothing happens.

I would like to delete the files that are ready to be written, where are
they located?

Thanks,

winxp sp2 "does" read write cd's. but it may not know that your cd player is
a reader and not a writer. when you open file explorer and click on the
drive for the cd, you will see the files there awaiting your command to write
themselves onto the blank cd..... just hit your delete key instead

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\CD Burning
In My computer, tools, folder options, view tab, check show hidden files and
folders to see the CD Burning folder, delete the files..
If you are using a third party burning app (Nero, Roxio, etc), disable the
inbuilt XP CD burning capability by right clicking the CD/DVD RW drive,
recording tab, uncheck the box "enable CD burning on this drive" .. Also you
can type (copy & paste) Services.msc in the Run box (click Start, Run) and
set the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service to manual..
