wow.exe and NTVDM.exe

I am running XP PRO. An application quit running
correctly and I tried to re-install it, but setup would
not run. In Task Manager, noticed wow.exe was running.
Through research, I have found that it is a Windows file,
as well as NTVDM.exe. I have gotten errors for both of
these files. I think that re-installing these files that
I suspect are corrupt will fix the problem, but how is
this done with XP PRO? I can't find it anywhere in the
support pages.
