worm virus

my computer has the sasser worm virus (I believe) but
everytime i run the macafee virus scan or any other scan
it doesnt pick it up. I dont know how to fix this so
someone please help.

What makes you think you have Sasser?
Have you downloaded Stinger from McAfee (www.nai.com)
Have you enabled your firewall?
Have you run Windows Update to get all critical updates? Note - SP2 isn't
necessary for this.

Forgive the intrusion, I just want to ask a general question.
Lets say my pc was hit by a virus which exploit the LSASS flaw and someone
has take control. If I remove the virus and apply the MS patch, does it mean
I am save? or is the backdoor connection still exist? Do I have to format the
harddisk ?

With Sasser, nobody is taking control of your computer - but it's going to
act as a vector to infect other computers. You can remove Sasser and
variants using Stinger. You can prevent reinfection by keeping current with
all critical updates from WU. And enable your firewall, pronto.
