Worm patch won't work

I have tried to download the worm patch for XP. Every
time I try to open the file I get a message that the file
cannot be opened because the file "update.inf" cannot be
verified, and to be sure my cryptographic service is
running. I can remove the worm with "fixblast" from
Symantec, but as soon as I go online, the worm returns
and shuts me down. By the way, the file update.inf is not
in my computer. I have searched all files. It must be a
file in the patch. Is there any other patch available to
block the worm? Plus I've been unable to find a file
which will tell me whether my cryptographic service is
running. Any suggestions?

I found that if I turn on my XP firewall it will block
the worm from re-entering lthen I close the msblast.exe
in my controll panel processes (Ctrl, Alt, Del)and
download the update from microsoft, then I load the
fixblast.exe and all works well. you might want to turn
off your system restore for this process.
