Workstation NIC keeps getting disabled

On a very small Win2K domain, one of the client workstations has begun getting it's NIC disabled for no apparent reason.

In the system event log I can see first a warning, Event ID 11180 from DnsApi, saying the system failed to update and remove registration for the network adapter...

This is immediately followed by an error, Event ID 5719 from NETLOGON, saying no Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain controller is available for the domain, and there are not logon servers available to servie the logon request.

There is no broadband Internet connection, just a dialup ISP account. I'm not certain but I think it is happenning during a dialup session.
