I have a pc with Windows 2000 professional with svc pk 4.
The problem I encountered is trying to map a drive on
another pc, the connection alwasy fails. When I looked in
services, the workstation and computer browser services
are missing (they are not in the list of services). What
causes this and what do i need to do to get these services
back on? By the way I uninstalled and reinstalled tcp/ip,
netbui and file sharing, but ended up with the same
problem.

Look in Hklm\System\CCSet\Services for LanmanWorkstation and Browser. They
are probably not there. Now go through the Controlset0x to see if you can
find them. If they are there the you can save them out and modify the text
file to point to ccset and import it. Otherwise copy the registry setting
from another machine.

I was able to import the registry keys from another
machine, but both services won't start up. Trying to
start these service I get error messages 1068 and 2250.
