Works 8 Calendar

I'm running XP Pro with lots of storage, etc. After one of the recent
"critical" updates from automatic updates, my Works 8 Calendar, which has
worked for years, no longer runs. I get the standard windows error message
that works 8 has encountered a problem and must close. The app attempting to
run is wkscal.exe. Any ideas what has changed or was downloaded that could
cause this? The calendar is important to reminding me of dates in advance.

The following is by no means meant to be a solution ; however, while you
are looking for one -

I have noticed, on having a similar problem getting the; "...application
must close" window with Win Media Player 11, that with that application,
and some other apps that the "...must close" error message has appeared
in - if you just grab one corner of the error window with the mouse and
drag it right over till it's off the screen and out of the way, you are
still able to use the application and all it's functions.

Sometimes the error that causes the "...must close" window, is quite small,
but once the [close] or maybe it's the [ok] button has been pressed (I
forget which it is) on the error window itself, just doing that will
terminate the application - and *not* the actual error!!

With my WMP11 program, it has not been possible to rectify, or even
diagnose the actual cause of the error message, that appears a few seconds
after the application starts - every time. So by pushing the error message
well out of the way I can still use the wmplayer as if it never happened
(and before anyone tells me - yes I have tried uninst / reinst the
application).

Granted, though, on some [other] applications, the error that causes the
window to appear IS a severe one, and the application is all but frozen....

Well, Y S, that's an interesting question. Last time I came to this
discussion groups home with a problem, there were pages of discussion on
every page of every topic. Now, almost are blank. Did I miss an announcement
or something that this site is essentially blank? Do I need a decoder ring or
something to see the posts?

Thanks Tim but this error message appears before the calendar opens so it
doesn't work here.
