Workgroups and Domains

Here is my situation.

I recently had to change my laptop to join a Domain we setup at my company.
Prior to this we Networked as a workgroup. Now my laptop can no longer
access my desktop at home which runs WINXP Home. The Laptop is XP pro.

The strange thing is that the desktop PC does show on the laptop. It just
will not accept any logon I attempt.

Does anyone have any ideas how to make a PC in a Domain work with one that's
not? All I want to do is access the home PC's printer and one shared drive.

Kevin,

I'd bet that you were using Simple File Sharing when the laptop was joined to
the workgroup. Now that you're using Advanced File Sharing in a domain, the
local Guest account has been disabled.

Make sure that the Guest account is enabled, thru Local User Manager (Start -
Run - "lusrmgr.msc").

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Do I need to enable that on both workstations?

Kevin,

The Microsoft document is a bit vague, but my guess is yes. Please enable the
Guest account on both workstations (remember to enable Guest thu lusrmgr, on the
XP Pro laptop).
