workgroup vs domain

Dumb question follows:

I have a XP Pro machine that has both local user accounts and also
participates in a domain. So my user list looks like

userid Domain group
user1 workgroup Administrator (logon to "this computer")
user1 adomain power user (logon to domain called adomain)
user2 workgroup power user

What I don't know about local machine vs domain membership is the following:

If I delete userid1/workgroup what effect does that have on the local
resources for userid1/adomain? Are they logically two different userids each
with their own data structure under "documents and settings"? I can find
lots of doc explaining how to set up users and groups both locally and in a
domain, but nothing that explains how each membership affects the other, if
at all. I want to delete userid1/workgroup but don't know if this will
delete associated data for userid/adomain.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Steve

If you delete the local account "user1", you will be asked if you want to
keep the data files for that user. If you say yes, than an Administrator of
either the machine or the domain will be able to access these files.
Deleting a machine account will have no bearing on the domain account of the
same name.

Accounts are unique even if they have the same name (different ID for
windows).
so you can delete user 1 from workgroup and it won't do anything to the
domain one.

Thank you both. Each answer was great in itself, and both together created
a complete picture. Many thanks - Steve
