Workgroup file will not switch when different dbase in use.

Recently we migrated to Access 2002, I created new databases and imported the objects. DBases that had "Security" on them, I removed security first, then imported objects in new 2002 ver. then re-established a workgroup file in ver. 2002. I created the special shortcut on my desktop to direct which workgroup file to use when opening the database (worked correctly in ver. 97). When I execute the shortcut, Access opens the database using whatever workgroup file was last used. Which I manually set to system.mdw without any databases open, but does not switch to my provrelsys.mdw when I open using special shortcut. It will use the last used .mdw file no matter what database I open, even if it doesn't have security on it. If I open a securied database and manually set the .mdw through Workgroup administrator, then close and open a different or unsecured dbase, access will still use the last .mdw file I set instead of using the system.mdw. Thanks in advance...tossing ver. 2002 out the window!

Well that's fine, but did you actually resecure the version 2002 database
using this workgroup?

Could you explain how you are determining that the 'last mdw used' is being
used rather than the one in your shorcut? (I think the method you are using
may be incorrect).

Also what does your shortcut look like?

The Workgroup Admin will tell you which .mdw file the computer is joined to,
NOT which workgroup is being used to authenticate users for the open
database. Go to Tools > Security > User Group accounts. The groups you set
up should in provrelsys.mdw should show up in the available groups section.

I determine the workgroup file by Tools, Security, Workgroup Admin.

My shortcut is:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE" "S:\Corporate
Shared\Contracting Shared\ProviderRelations.mdb" /wrkgrp "S:\Corporate
Shared\Contracting Shared\provrelsys.mdw"

As Lynn said, that doesn't tell you the workgroup in use. To actually
check, you can use your shortcut and then in the immediate window type

?dbengine.SystemDB
That will tell you the mdw in use.
