Workgroup Computers

What is the implication if I look at: "My Network Places\Entire
Network\Microsoft Windows Network\Workgroup" and can not see the computers
with shared resources on a peer-to-peer network, and yet if I address the
resource as: "\\computer1\shareddirectory" I can see it and map it. Are the
two methods that dissimilar?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

hello

Dear
first tell what you want to do if you want to a access the other computer do some thing like that

1.allot the IP adress to the system
2.go to my computer and give them the easy names like sys1 or home
3.now under the computer name text box gives the workgroup name and sure that the workgroup name you are giving are same spell of the computers

4.go to my computer open it go to tools folder options and last one uncheck the use simple file sharing(recomanded)

now from network places run the network connection setup and restart ure system

it will work.

Are all the computers in the same workgroup?
Is file/print sharing enabled / open in the firewall?
Computer browser service started on all of them?
NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled in each computer's TCP/IP properties?

Browsing requires NetBIOS over TCP/IP - even if you disable that, you can
still access resources by explicitly specifying the server\share names in a
UNC path, but if you want to browse, check the above.
