Worker bee task model

I understand that I can assign tasks to other Outlook users. I also
understand that I can assign the same task to multiple people by making
multiple versions of the task. What I want to do is to setup a system
with a set of worker bees. Each worker bee gets all tasks (broadcast)
and then as worker bees become available they take an available task.
Once a task is taken, I don't want other worker bees to take the same
task. I do want to track the tasks to make sure that they are being
worked.

Does Outlook support this model?

Not natively but with some VBA and workflows you can create this "support
desk" approach.
