Outlook task is placed back into To-Do-List after Completed

After completing an outlook task I mark the task as complete. A few days
later the same task will pop back up saying I need to complete it (but I
already did and I marked it accordingly). The reoccurring task is not turned
on so these tasks shouldn't continue to pop up. Also these tasks are being
assigned to me by a co-worker. Could it be something they are doing? They
are giving me ownership of the task so I wouldn't think so. Does anyone have
suggestions?
