Workaround install of MM2 still doesn't work

Couldn't install MM2 (said it installed but kept giving
me MM1). I searched papajohn.org for troubleshooting tips
and followed the install workaround instructions for MM2
every way listed there
(http://www.eicsoftware.com/pictures/PapaJohn/Website-
MM2/MM2.html), but still no luck. Anyone else been unable
to install, even with the workaround? I'm on a new sony
vaio 32G with xp home.
