Using Word2000 in XP, why does the CPU time show 99% use when any Word document is highlighted?

Do you have a document with lots of field quotes and possible Smart Tags?
Its possible that Word is scanning the document for those, which means it
utilizing the CPU usage for such a task.

If you have Norton AV software, disable the Office plug-in.
