WordArt and File Labeling

What does wordart do to a website if it is not captured and filed as a jpg
file? I have gone back and renamed my files with "-" and with content
matching.

I just got through beating my brains out trying to get my store logo to save
as a graphic file and nothing I would try would work. Painter wouldn't have
anything to do with it, plus, word will only save text.

Open the page with the logo in a browser, click on the page to make the
window the active window, and type Alt+PrtScn This copies the page
onto the clipboard as an image.
Open your favourite graphics editor (Pain, Paint Shop Pro, PhotoShop
etc)
Paste the clipboard onto the canvas. (ctrl+V)
Crop the image so only the logo is left.
Save for the web, as .jpg if more than 256 colours or a gradient, or as
..gif if less than 256 colours, and the colours are solid.
Import into the FrontPage web.

On the keyboard. Hold down the alt key, and tap the PrtScn key.

Does "PrtScn" stand for print screen? The reason why I'm asking is because I
have a very old keyboard and it does not show those abbreviations.

When I pull up the page in a browser and press "alt+prtscn" nothing will
happen. I think I'm just going to end up creating another logo.

Nothing does happen - visibly.

Invisibly the contents of the browser window (including toolbars, and
most important, the logo) is copied to memory.

It's when you paste into the graphics program that you see things happen
- the copy in the memory is laid out in the graphics program, ready to
be worked on.

Something is happening when you press Alt+PrintScrn, it's just in the
background and you can't "see" it. After you hit Alt+PrintScrn open Paint
and press Ctrl+V and you'll see the results. Crop your logo and save as a
jpg.

I give up. :(

When I "alt+v" and saw the results all paint would let me do is move the
picture. I could not crop.

We can at least get you a logo...once you Ctrl+V to paste the picture into
paint, click on the "star" looking thing in the top left hand corner of the
tool box. Now click on the "dotted box" looking thing in the top right hand
corder and place your cursor at the top left corner of your logo, click and
hold to the bottom right corner of your logo and release. You logo should be
"captured". Now either right click and select "Copy" or on the menu bar
highlight "Edit" and then "Copy" to copy your logo. Finally, open a new
instance of Paint. Ctrl+V again and only your logo will be displayed in
Paint. Save as "logo.jpg" and be sure to change the "Save as type" dropdown
to JPEG (*.JPG, *.JPEG, *.JFIF). Your logo is ready to go!

Dan, I'm sorry I didn't get your help before I just completely redid the
whole thing. I'm back at 3:30. I'm going to straighten everything out once
I have you look at my new logo. The picture is a .jpg and both the picture
and the store name are positioned absolutely. I'm worried about my border
now. Take a look at:
www.cozyhomejewelrystore.com and let me know what you think. I wouldn't
mind having more opinions, too.

Before I really get going, I just want to make sure that I understand one
thing so I will get it right because I have a lot of corrections to on my
site. In the file name, I should not "underscore" but put a "hyphen" in
between words. And no spaces.

G

You are right about "no spaces". Use either an underscore or a hyphen
(either/or), just no spaces!

OK: my_file.html or my-file.html
Not OK: my file.html

You should not use spaces in folder or file names but what you replace them
with is up to you. Hyphens or underscores is fine. I prefer underscores or
just not spacing them at all. Ex: ThisIsANewPage.htm rather than
This_Is_A_New_Page.htm. The problem with underscores, visually, is that
they look like underlines.

BTW... capturing and editing Wordart is just an easy workaround for you...a
trick to convert VML graphics to jpg or gif. If you have an image editing or
graphics editing program you can create original art that way (better than
the workaround). And, as you've discoverd later down in this thread cropping
in Paint is not at all intuititve!...in fact it's goofy if you ask me.
