Word Won't Start

I run MS Office XP Pro on Vista Home Premium, when I run Word it will not
start.

"Microsoft Word has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop
working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a
solution is available." "Close program."

Closing the program opens a Problem Reports and Solutions window. It states
the following: "Problem caused by Microsoft Word 2002: consider upgrading.
The problem was caused by Microsoft Word 2002, which was created by Microsoft
Corp. MS Word 2002 is in its 'Extended Support' phase. This phase of
support for MS Word 2002 began on July 11, 2006. Only security-related
solutions are created by Microsoft for this version of MS Office.

Consider upgrading to the latest version of MS Office to receive full support.

We also recommend that you periodically go to the Windows Update webiste and
use the Microsoft Update option....(trails off into instructions on how to
use the update site.)"

Click "ok" and get a popup window stating: "Word failed to start correctly
last time. Starting Word in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a
startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some
functionality may be disabled in this mode. Do you want to start Word in
safe mode?"

Clicking yes shows that template file Normal is recovered or saved during
recovery. I save normal, close Word, and reopen it.

I cannot afford an upgrade to MS Office 07, I don't have the money. Are
there steps I can take to solve this problem?

Thank you, I read your instructions for deleting the registry key
\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Data, Word appears
to be working fine and I noticed the Data Key was reinstalled.

Thank you,

Darrell "Astiman"
