Word vs Wordperfect

Greetings

Biggest difference, one is made by Microsoft and one by Corel. They both
have the basic functions of a Word Processor.

To add to the other sage replies - Corel software crashes a lot, in my
experience, and Word has become far more standard.

What is the difference between the two programs and which
is better?

Large price difference. You can purchase Corel Office Suite 2002
(includes Wordperfect 10) for under $20. I have even seen Corel
Office Suite 2003 for less than $30 advertised on the web.

Which one is better? Very subjective - like choosing automobiles.
If possible, try both before you buy. (Perhaps use a friends machine
that has a copy installed)

It is very much a matter of taste. WordPerfect is preferred by those
who use the software all the time and like controlling it by keyboard
hot-keys (and can remember all the combinations). Word by those who
prefer mouse control, and perhaps use it less. Also there is Lotus
WordPro - which is also more graphic oriented but less of a giant than
Word has become
