When I try to "Save AS" both Word 2003 & Publisher 2003 kock up and I have to
end the programme. This has only just started. I have reinstalled Office 2003
with the same result.

I also reinstalled Office 2000 and it works perfectly.

A Windows update has probably caused this - You can remove it from
Add/Remove Programs, where it shows as "Security Update for Windows XP
(KB908531)". Make sure the "show updates" box at the
top is ticked or you won't see hotfixes in the list.

Graham,

Thanks for the information, but my Operatin systemn is 2000 Professional.

Do you expect that the latest upadte from last night also causded this??

Thak you.

Only the ones you were vulnerable too before it was installed. Whether you
uninstall it or not depends on how badly you want to use Office until it is
fixed.

It has been posted many times in this and other Office forums. The problem
is that people don't look before asking.

I tend to agree with you. I am now forced by necessity to take this action,
since it hasn't been fixed and I need to email a job searching guide to an
engineer friend who needs it now. I was hoping that there would be a fix by
now, but there isn't.

I am concerned though that I may be subject to attack. I have and keep up to
date my security software because this is a great concern of mine.

However, I think you have correctly described the dilemma.

Thanks

You may find a fix at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165 (didn't work
for me, though).
