Today i downloaded and installed IE7 which works great but i have lost my
word pad program which is full of my work stuff which i need.I have tried the
folder options thing but it appears word pad is not in my system anymore.I
ran system restore to yesterday which gave me word pad back but no IE7.
Another thing that happened is i now have a giant padlock in the middle of
my screen which comes and goes when a thing that deals with monitor
adjustments like screen resolution ect ect.How do i get rid of those 2 things
and get my word pad back.
Ok you guys this is going to test you, thank you very much in advance.

Well having been in the IE7 newsgroup since the beta first came out I have
never seen THAT one before.
which is full of my work stuff which i need.

Misconception. The files are still there, Wordpad is only the application
you use to access these files.
I have tried the folder options thing but it appears word pad is not in

Have you tried Comtrol Panel-Add/Remove Programs-Add/Remove Windows
Components and looked to see whether it's been uninstalled for some reason?

Go to Start | Run. Type in WordPad, click ok. Does it run?

If not you could run the edit on Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 308: Restore Wordpad.Exe

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.

To open Wordpad.exe...
Start | Run | Type: wordpad | Click OK
or
Start | Run | Type: write | Click OK

Wordpad does NOT store your files.

Do a Search for *.rtf on your machine to see where the files might be
located.

Interestingly, I can't find anything on Google on how to re-install
Wordpad.....you might try Start-Run-cmd-sfc /scannow if you have a proper XP
Cd and not a restore CD....

Thank you Gordon that fixed it thank you again
