Hi,
Before i start i have to let you know i am totally un-techie (such a term?)
so please keep any replies S I M P L E!!! lol

I have just bought a new Pc with Vista Home premium 32 bit pre-installed.
I had a version of Word from my old Office XP small Business disc and loaded
Word onto my new PC.

Now, when i write using Word i get loads of charactors, above and below my
writing when i save it doubling the page size at least. Also, when i
download anything from the internet that uses Word, i cannot read the
document as it is in these strange looking charactors and none of it is in
English.

Help me please!!

Thanks,
Rob

One option would be to download OpenOffice.org - it has virtually all the
functionality of MS Office.

I could be wrong, but I read in another post from someone else that that
Office XP does not work with any versions of Vista.

It does work, except for a couple of things. Like Outlook
not remembering email passwords. I would suggest to anyone
installing any major program like Office, to turn off UAC. Then
after the install, turn it back on if you want to.

It sounds like you've either installed Word in some language other than
English or else you have it set to some language other than English.
Start Word and go to tools and set language.

What I said was that Outlook XP won't work. It needs to install Outlook
Express, which can't be installed on Vista

Frank,

I'm not sure what you're talking about, Outlook XP/2002 works
just fine on Vista, except it doesn't remember passwords. It will
remember the passwords as long as Outlook is open, but once
it is closed, a user has to re-enter those passwords for each email
account the next time.

Not according to other reports, but I won't denigrate it again.

It worked at my computer... for a while... used it like two weeks without a
single problem, now, I get a message it does not function anymore every ten
seconds...
