Word not accessing its folder on zipdisk

How can I get Word to access its folder on the Zip Disk? I
can see it by going through "My Computer" and then
"Removable E".

- Why can't Word access them?
- What exactly happens?
- What message do you get?
- What happens when you type out the document name,
e.g. "e:\Some Folder\Jay.doc"?
 
Editing documents directly on removable media in not a recommended practice.
