word Mail Merge; will hyperlinks work?

I wrote a letter in Word for a Mail Merge. Two problems: can't get
hyperlink to work and recipient gets a long stretched letter

You'll need to describe "long stretched letter" in more concrete
detail...

Hyperlinks in Word are created by Hyperlink fields. So a URL coming
from a datasource won't automatically be a hyperlink. Do you just want
something that looks like a hyperlink? Or do you want it to be an
active hyperlink (and in that case, are you sending Emails)?
