Merge

I just had an experience merging a letter that unfortunately was not caught
before the 506 letters were mailed. I'm trying to determine how the "glich"
occured. My letter had numbering at the bottom (1. and 2.) when merged with
the personal information of each recipient, the first letter showed correctly
1. and 2.; the second showed 3. and 4.; the third 5. and 6.; consecutively to
506. I merged and printed the letter but my staff mailed and didn't see the
mistake. Suggestions? What went wrong? Thanks so much.

If this was set up as a Letter-type merge, by default each letter would be
in a separate section with numbering restarted in each section. It would
appear that the numbering in your merge document was set to "Continue from
previous section," but it's hard to understand how that could be if you
defined it as a Letter merge.
