I have a user, that when he launches Outlook for the first time, after
logging in, Word also launches.
Also, when opening a link to a Word document, within an email, he receives
an error that winword.exe has caused a C++ error and will terminate. (this
problem doesn't occur if he clicks the document link from with-in the preview
pane, but he doesn't like using the preview pane)
If I de-select Word as his email editor, both problems go away. However,
the user wants to use Word as his email editor, so this is not an acceptable
solution.
I tried replacing his email.dot file, with one from my machine (which
doesn't have these problems) but that didn't help.
The problem occurs under my account when I log into his machine (so it's not
profile specific)
I tried removing Office and reinstalling it, that didn't help.
I have the Office clean up tool from Microsoft, which I could try
uninstalling Office again and running that, but he has multiple applications
installed that include templates for Word and Excel and I am afraid if I run
the clean-up tool, I will end up having to reinstall all those other
applications (which are very finicky)
Any ideas?
