Print Preivew is not available for HTML

I have a user who is getting the message. "Print Preview is not available for
HTML formatted Items" when trying to use the print preview function in
Outlook.

We use Office & outlook 2003.

At my company we use the option to compose the message in the HTML format.
I do not have the problem and I use the HTML format as well I have the 2
boxes below in mail format tab unchecked. So I don't use word as my editor
nor do I use office word 2003 to read rich text e-mail messages

I had the user change his setting to match mine close out of Outlook however
he says he is still getting the message.
is there anything else I would need him to change so he can use the print
preview option

Thanks
Lynn

I have an HP Deskjet 970cse injket printer. Part of its software install
added an option to the Preferences dialog for the printer. One of those is
"Show HP Preview". That will open a window showing HP's print preview.
Some applications don't have a print preview option and I'd prefer to see
what I'm printing before wasting the ink to find out. It is also a safety
net in case I forget to do a print preview and instead just pick Print. I
get the same error as you when I try using File -> Print Preview in OL2003,
so I instead use Print but get HP's print preview.

Another workaround is to double-click the e-mail to open in its own window.
Use the Edit -> Edit Message menu. While in edit mode, use the Format menu
to switch to RTF (if available) or Plain text (which loses all HTML
formatting). Then use the File -> Print Preview menu. After previewing
(and perhaps printing), exit the e-mail's window and chose not to save your
changes (to switch the format mode) unless you really do want to save it
that way.

I'm not sure why Microsoft doesn't let you see a print preview of an HTML
formatted e-mail. It might have to do with not allowing the HTML content to
be rendered inside of Internet Explorer which would permit scripts within
the HTML formatted e-mail to execute. HTML formatted e-mails within Outlook
are rendered under the Restricted Sites security zone by default. This
neuters the nasties in HTML code that might reside within an e-mail.
However, print preview probably would use IE to render the HTML document and
that means you expose yourself to whatever HTML code is in that document.
You can print the HTML e-mail but you can't preview it perhaps due to
security concerns.
