Word lanuches with a 2nd blank screen

In winXP SP2 each time I launch a Word document I get the word doc opening
but before it opens a second blank window launches too. Anyway to disable
this or is this what happens when you want each word document in a sperate
window?

Interesting. I'm discussing a very similar problem here

Can you find this message (in this group, but going back a few
days, so you might want to "google" it) and see what following
any of the suggestions does for you?

Looked at the other post by Mike McNicholas and I am having the same issues
as him! I do have one "addin" in Word which is the Oxford University Press
"Spellchecker and Dictionary" v1.1 programme

Could this be casuing the blank TAB to appear?

It's quite possible. I still don't know which version of Word you're using, so
I can't give you explicit steps but...

If you start Word in SAFE MODE, does the problem still occur, or does it go
away?

You certainly should contact the developers of the plug-in, as it's doing
something odd when it loads.

Other than that, all you can do is uninstall the Add-in.
