Word file identification

I don't know if it is suitable for this group.

I have a project to convert word file to tiff. As usual,
I launch a word application and open the doc file, then I
print it out via a tiff printer.

The question is how to avoid the counterfeit doc file. If
somebody change a exe file to a doc file, word
application will find it thousands of pages. I think, one
way is to determine the format after loading into Word.
The better way is read some special identification of doc
file.

Anybody can tell me the specail identification of doc
file. Thanks in advance.

Hi Wei,

Note that I'm not SURE this will work, but it's certainly
worth a try. Office documents all store document PROPERTIES.
And it's possible to check these while a document is closed.
Microsoft provides the tool DSOFile.exe to make this easy
for "mere mortals":

FILE: Dsofile.exe - Edit Office Document Properties from
VB/ASP [Q224351]
