Word fails and opens in safe mode only

Word fails and opens in safe mode only unless Outlook is open

When I try to open MicrosoftWord when OUTLOOK is not open, I receive an error message stating:

"Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

The error signature information states:

AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 10.0.5815.0 ModName: winword.exe

ModVer: 10.0.5815.0 Offset: 0082ab0e

Word opens fine when on the office network again. . .
