Word extensions changed in email

Hi Rick,

A 'defanged' attachment can be one that has been scanned or altered as detected to be possibly malicious. It could contain spam, a
virus, a worm or other and can be something done by the mail service server or by an anti-malware product you have installed on your
computer.

==============
The last few days every Word doc that comes to me in an email (and I've
tested sending to myself as well) comes to me with a different extension
(using the word DEFANGED) and I get the "Windows can't open this file" box.
So I choose Word from the list of programs and it opens the attachment.

I use MS Outlook. I can open the documents but the process isn't as simple
as a double click. How can this be changed back?>>
