Word-Excel Links - Preserving Formatting

Guest

I linked an Excel spreadsheet to a Word document. I pasted special links,
unformatted text. However, the link that came in wasn't Arial 12, as the
rest of my document was. After changing all the links to Arial 12, saving,
and reopening the Word doc, all the links changed back to the old formatting.
How do I get the links to STAY Arial 12? Do I need to change the formatting
in Excel?

Hi Dow-

You seem to have hit the nail right on the head. When you create a Link, the
content is read from the source file each time the link is updated, i.e when
you open Word. When refreshed, the content appears as saved in the source
file.

AFAIK, if you need to have the wksht content formatted a certain way in the
doc, either change the formatting in the wksht file or break the
link/re-insert it as an embedded object.

If you need to maintain the Link, there should be a way to automate the
reformatting with VBA.
