lose format when linking excel to work

i have an excel spreadsheet that i want to link to a table in a word
document. i copy the spreadsheet in excel, go to word and click paste
special, then click paste link, click Microsoft Excel worksheet as object.
the numbers come over correctly, but i lose the format. i.e. the word doc
had wider columns.

thanks in advance for your help
 
If you activate the Excel object you should be able to set the desired
properties in Excel.
