Word error 0xc0000006 on opening application-does not load.

I've recently upgraded to Windows XP SP3, but now can't get Word to open and
get the error code 0xc0000006. DUring upgrad installation I couldn't get the
arial font file to backup, and also had a virus to clean up. What to do???
Looking for free fix.
