Word Document file name appears in blue

Recently, some of my Word Document file names have shown up in the color blue
and some are black. They used to all be in black. What has happened to make
them display in blue? Thank you in advance.

Do you mean files listed in Windows Explorer?

I think if the files have not been opened for a long time they get
'archived' by windows and when archived the file names appear blue. Would
this answer fit the bill?

Best wishes,

If you are running your XP on the NTFS file system then the could be
automatically compressed or encrypted. Right click on a blue file and
go to properties, an option in this dialog should tell you if it is
compressed or encrypted.

Files that have been compressed, for example because you ran Disk Cleanup
and left the default option to Compress old file, are shown in blue.
