Word document and hyperlink

I have created a hyperlink to a word document.
How do I see the box which asks me if I want to open the document or save it
before opening?

that box is something you're probably familiar with from your web
browser (i.e., when you click on a link in IE) -- I don't think it has
anything to do with Word.
