word doc wont open

I have tried to email my essay in a word document format to my boyfriends
computer. this essay was done on a computer that has windows xp and done
through microsoft works but saved as a word doc. Now when he tries to open
it, it says there is a dialog box open, but the only thing that pops up is a
windows installer box which disappears as soon as we click ok to close the so
called dialog box. Please help!!

Hi Dana,

It would help if you would include the version of Works you are using. Is he
trying to open your document with Word? If so, what version of Word?
Depending on the versions, there is an add-on to Word that you can download
from Microsoft's web site that allows Word to open a Works document. The link

This may or may not help you...if it doesn't please provide more details.
