Word doc wont delete

I have a document that I did a word comparision on. I have all three
documents saved. I would like to delete the compared documents and save the
merged one. For some reason, it is telling me these documents are in use by
another program and wont let me delete them.. or even move them to another
folder. Any ideas of how to get rid of them!!

Are all three documents closed?

Also, quit Word and see what happens.
