Some Word documents I have created, which I have subsequently moved to other
folders and also the Desktop wont now let me open them as the message Access
denied comes up implying I am not the creator. Can anyone please help me with
this? Thanks.

Ive got a further problem! My son is also logged on as an Administrator but
he cant open any Word or Excel document that he has previously created. I
didnt realise this when I posted the original problem. He can start new ones.
I have tried the instructions you gave me that worked for me and also for
some of his blocked photos but not for his Word or Excel docs.? If I open in
safe mode and log on as Administrator then open his docs it works, but not
when logged on as him or myself.

What version of Word? What version of Windows? What antivirus
program (if any) do you use? When you say "cant open", does that
mean you get an error message, and if yes, what does the error
message say exactly? How are you trying to open existing Word
documents (e.g., from the Open dialog within Word, or from Word's
recently used file list, or from Windows' recently used file
list, or double-clicking on a shortcut on the Windows desktop, or
double-clicking from Windows Explorer, etc.) when this problem
occurs? If you are not using the Open dialog within Word, does
the problem persist if you do?

Word 2003. XP Home Edition SP3. My anti virus is F-Secure Internet 2008. I
also have a free version of Malwarebytes Anti malware. I hve tried opening
the files in every way I know but the same thing happens. I get the following
messages
"The command cannot be performed because a dialogue box is open.Click ok
close the dialogue box then continue" When I do this I get "Word cannot open
the existing(Normal)" Then I get "File in use .doc locked for editing by
another user. Do you want to >open a read only copy >create a local copy and
merge later >receive notification when original copy is available." After
that comes "Word experienced an error trying to open the file try these
suggestions >check file permission or drive > make sure there is sufficient
free memory or disc space > open file with text recovery convertor." Your
original instructions have worked with my own files but when my son logs on
nothing works and I cant open his file through my logon.
