Word doc commands don't function

When i open a document from within word program all is fine. Same document
opened from window explorer has lost drop down command functions for the
edit, tools, insert, ect. and the toolbars are all different from what has
been set up in the word, the defaults for opening a doc in explorer seem all
screwed up and it is a pain everytime I open to fix. I have tried changing
the toolbars but it does not remember them. Normal file in word is fine. Can
anyone share some ideas...

Try Start>Run winword.exe /r

Note the space before the /r
