word closes while typing

I get two or three lines typed and the program closes. How can I fix this?

Start by telling us the version of Word and of Windows you have installed on
your machine.

Windows version is 2000 Professional and Word is 2003.

Windows version is 2000 Professional and Word is 2003.

This is happening with any document, also a new one, right, and not just with one
or two particular ones?

Try holding down the CTRL key when you start Word, to go into Safe Mode. Does the
problem persist, or does it go away?
