we have been using word as the email editor for quite sometime, but starting
yesturday something happened. when you click on a new message or reply it
shows a message "starting word as your email editor" and just sits there with
an hour glass and nothing happens. if i take the check mark out and not use
word as the editor my email works fine. Any idea why this is happening?

Before calling Word from Outlook, check the Processes tab in Task Manager.
If you see an instance of winword.exe loaded in memory but you don't have
any visible instances of Word running then Word screwed up when last exited
and left a stub of code in memory which later screws up subsequent loads of
Word. You'll have to kill winword.exe using Task Manager. Outlook has the
same problem. Outlook and Word have had this problem for many versions and
has yet to fix their exit routine.
