Word and language settings

When removing a second language (control panel-regional and language
options-languages-details) the language is NOT removed from MS word
functionality,

ex: When adding a watermark- options are in English and Spanish even though
English has been removed through the control panel.

Is there an additonal step required? I have checked word/office language
settings and they only indicate English.

I am confused by your query. You say English has been removed from Windows,
only English support is available in Office, and yet watermarks are offered
in English and Spanish.

Can you tell me what language version of Windows you have installed, and
what language version of Office you have installed. It may be that this
particular option is not directly tied to language settings.

Tony,

I made an error, I did not remove English. English is the primary language
of the pc and the office suite.

Some options are showing up in German..English the only language installed.

Doing some test I discovered that when a secondary language is installed and
then removed some the language settings are not removed (for example in the
watermark applet) I am basically trying to determine how to remove all of the
German entries. German is NOT installed as a secondary language but it is my
suspicion that it may have been in the past.

I can't help directly, but my experience was similar and may give you some
idea ...

I previously had Dutch installed on this (English 32-bit Vista) PC and,
after I uninstalled it, I would still see some things in Dutch. I eventually
discovered a setting that said it was using Dutch for some 64-bit things. I
can't remember exactly what the option was or where it was - I have just
scoured my Regional Settings looking for it (which is where I would expect
to find it, maybe on the Administrative tab), but can see no trace of it;
perhaps it only shows up when there is some difference. Anyway, I changed
that setting back to English, and no longer see any Dutch (I do see some
Spanish occasionally but that's another story!). I will post back if I find
the setting.

Having said all that, in Word 2003 I see watermark options in many
languages - presumably those I have enabled through the Office 2003 Language
Settings dialog, most of which I have never installed support for, beyond
that which comes with the English version of Word, so if you have German (or
Spanish) set as enabled editing languages you may see watermark options in
those languages.
