word 2007 proofing error correction

Created a mail merge document in Word 2002. I upgraded to Word 2007 (big
mistake). 2007 finds errors in the 2002 document. I correct them but it
will not save punctuation and grammer errors after I fix them. I even tried
saving the document in word 2002 but that does not work either. Any ideas?

the MailMerge document is still one, or are we talking about an executed
MM to a new document here? An can you give us an example of such an
error? And where exactly is it?
