Spell and Grammer Checker looking for French errors in my English

My Word 2007 spell and grammer checker is reporting all kinds of French
spelling and grammar errors. The problem is the Word 2007 document is in
English.

I went to Word 2007 options and could not see anything particular to this
document.

All the other documents I read in English are spell and grammer checked for
proper English.

Can you help me?

Make sure that (a version of) English is applied to text. Also, be sure to
turn off the option to "Detect language automatically" in the Language
dialog box. To open the dialog box, click the Review tab on the ribbon, and
then click Set Language in the Proofing group.
