Word 2007 not scrolling with mouse - culprit found, fix available?

Through all my beta testing of Word 2007 I could not scroll using the mouse
scroll wheel. It was just Word, all other programs seem to work (nothing to
do with VB either).

I use a logitech G7 mouse and the set point drivers. I also run another
mouse driver that came with an old mouse because of a very useful function it
provides. It has an "enhance mode" that scrolls the window under the mouse
without needing it to be active (eg you can scroll all frames in a webpage by
just holding the mouse over a frame - no need to click on that frame to
identify it as the scrollable window).

Word 2007 is the *only* program that has had a problem with this feature in
the 7 or 8 years I have used this program. The problem can be reproduced by
getting a driver from http://www.driver333.com.tw/mousedriver.htm (I use a
v3.5 one) and selecting the "enhance mode" in the wheel tab.

I also suspect this is the issue behind some IBM laptop users being unable
to scroll in Word 2007 - their driver might do provide a similar function.

So...you have two mouse drivers on your computer whereby one is a
SetPoint and the other one isn't? Both mouse drivers are for the same
physical mouse?
And you are using a driver that wasn't designed for the Logitech G7?
I am surprised this combination works at all. It is rather unsupported
and I don't think Microsoft would even consider fixing this.
I'd suggest that you remove the driver that isn't from Logitech and that
should resolve your scrolling issues.

The two drivers run fine in tandem - it has worked with the microsoft drivers
and the logitech drivers and is not the cause of the problem. The 2nd driver
offers a feature that is not available in SetPoint. In reality I do not
require SetPoint to be installed but as it does not interfere it doesn't
hurt. If I had just the generic driver installed it would still have the
problem.

The problem is with Word and the enhanced drivers (note no other program has
experienced this problem) and even if you ignore my special situation those
who use -just- that mouse driver will not be able to scroll. Similarly those
with a certain IBM driver are having the same problem. The driver itself is
widely used as it came with a number of generic mice and I would not be
surprised if a lot of people have it installed. So yes Microsoft should look
at why it is occuring with Word 2007 only if they don't want people not being
able to scroll when they purchase Office in the future.

Have you already installed and tested this with B2TR? See my website for
links to the downloads.

Can you sum up your issue and email it to me? You can get my email from
my website.
I'll submit it as bug to Microsoft and see what they say.
