Word 2007 how do I add up numbers in a table

I tried Formula Sum Above and it give me a huge number that I know is not right
 
Verify that all numbers are correct in the table cells. Then select the
formula field and press F9 to update it. Does that help?
 
The only way I can get it to work is if I have a zero in any of the cells
that don't have a value. Is there a way for the program to ignore empty
cells and go to the next cell that has a value?
