Sum numbers in a table word 2007

Columun of numbers in a table, unfortunately some of the cells have numbers
and text. Is there a way Word 2007 will preform the =SUM(ABOVE) function with
text in some cells?

=SUM(ABOVE) never works (in any version) when some of the cells are blank or
contain nonnumeric data. But you can still use the SUM formula with specific
cell references defining a range.
