Word 2007 - Cover Page Placeholders

I'm having difficult time keeping the "author" name in any cover page
placeholder upon saving the document.

Any suggestions?

Are you saving in Word 97-2003 format? If so, the placeholders will convert
to static text. You can insert the Author field instead (via Insert tab |
Quick Parts | Field).
