Disappearing placeholder

When I insert a cover page and replace the text placeholders with my name and
my company's name, the information is fine until I click the Save button.
After I click Save, the placeholders lose my information. Why?

What kind of 'placeholders' are we talking about here?

In Word 2007 the predesigned cover pages have location placeholders and text
placeholders. I have no problem with the location placeholders, but the text
placeholders won't retain the information after clicking Save.

Is this a new document or a document created in a previous version of Word?
If the latter, click the Microsoft Office Button, click Word Options, click
Trust Center, and then click Trust Center Settings. In the Privacy Options
section, make sure "Remove Personal Information from File Properties on
Save" isn't selected.

If that's not the problem then can you expand on what you mean by "location
placeholders" and "text placeholders". The "placeholders" are content
controls and some are bound to the document properties and others aren't.
I'm wondering which type you are referring to.
