Word 2003 opens Word 97 templates slowly

We upgraded are system from Window NT to Windows XP and Word 97 to Word 2003.
When opening a saved document on a template created with Word 97 there is a
15 to 30 second delay. Is there any way to solve this delay problem?

This usually occurs when Word is unable to find the original template. Is thi
template still available in the path specified under Tools/Templates and Addins
for the attached template? If not, you need to re-link to that template, or to a
different one (such as Normal).

Also, I quote from a post from Beth Melton:

Thanks for the help. The problem is not that severe, so I think I'll wait
for the service pack update mentioned at the hot fix site.
